Solar Chargers

I have just had a Motor mover fitted to my Ranger 460/4 and am yet to use it.  One question does concern me.  When you arrive back home following a holiday and hsave used the mover to hitch up and then park the caravan at its storage site, the battery will
have become partly discharged.  Normally, during the winter which are hard here in Wiltshire, I take the battey home and periodically charge it, but in the Spring I leave it in the van.  I have noticed on my storage site ther is a van with a small 12v solar
charger in the front window which is presumably keeping the battery charged.  My question is has anyone any experience of these panels and are they safe to leave connected.  I rather like the one sold by Maplins.

Any advice appreciated.
