User payload.
OK guys, I need some help and advice here. I've purchased a brand new van and collect it this week and take it to Herefordshire on Sunday for its first outing and as you can imagine the wife and I are very excited about it. That's the good news!
I emptied the old van prior to its sale and only then began to realise just how much we tugged around weight wise (probably illegally) for the past up to 14 years we had the van which somewhat alarmed me.
I already knew that the user payload in the new van is only 123kg and that we would have to de-clutter as it were and so today I decided to weigh everything while its all at home. I haven't finished yet but I'm already at the Max and haven't included leisure
battery (29 kg) cutlery, crockery, towels, any cleaning materials or food yet, let alone the cadac which normally travels in the van.
This is a 2 berth van so were not carrying excessive bedding or leisure furniture.
Furthermore, ideally we would like to fit a motor mover as we are getting on a bit, but with a weight of in the region of 39 kg see this as an impossibility as we could not reduce other weights to accommodate it.
This can't be a new problem and I would welcome members comments on the matter. I think a lot of caravanners must be towing an overweight and therefore illegal outfit.
