Travelling 2 Birmingham from t' North, M6Toll?

We are off to Chapel Lane site, travellinng from Cumbria. We were just going down the M6 and onto M5. But i have been told today that this is very busy and chaotic and we'd be better off paying to use the Toll road. The toll road does take us in round the
other side of Birmingham, but looks like it would only add 10mins to our time? The club offer also makes the toll good value and worth considering if it will be less stressful. As a caravan passenger i get very stressed, hubby driving doesn't give 2 hoots!
Anyone got any recommendations/advice? thanks
