New ethos re posts?

Since the start of the new catagories I have noticed that a number of stories, which were not stories, were to be Deleted User by the Moderators and the author asked to post on the main forum. Quite sensible I would think. 

I have also seen a non contentious post stopped from any new comments because it was felt the OP had been resolved. Is this going to be the same with posts closed for more comments if it is felt the OP has been answered? I have seen many posts resurrected
after a long absence of comments by equally valid new comments. 

Any Moderator care to enlighten me about any new intentions?
