Damp Checks !!!!

Hi everyone. we recently had a damp problem fixed under warranty by a big dealership. A few months later we confidently handed it to our local guy for a habitation check.... guess what; still astronomical readings in some of the areas. Spoke to manufacturer
( very helpful ) who said take it back to repairer . The service manager then ran his damp meter over the area but
didn,t spike it . Readings normal ... not convinced got local guy to retest and you know the outcome !!  he pointed out to me that you MUST use the spikes or you,re wasting your time, I have a strong feeling that the main dealer has tried to
pull the wool over my admittedly very naive eyes... has anyone got any views??
