Scottish Isles in a Motorvan

Hi, I'm new to the site and am planning a trip in April (hopefully avoiding the midges) to the Western Isles of Scotland in our motor van.  I notice there are only two CL's listed in the CC book.  Any advice on a route, sites, wild campling, etc.. Had a look at the Caledonian Mcbrayne site and there seems to be a bewildering array of tickets available.  All help gratefully received.
