Do owners not hear their dogs barking?
We are coming to the end of our two weeks summer holiday away in our caravan, staying so far at two club sites. On the first site we were woken at 6am by a dog barking tied up outside a van. Went on for a minute or so before it was quiet - why would you
tie your dog up at that time and then not quieten it immediately?
Been at Moreton-in-Marsh for 10 nights and it's just been constant yapping from dogs all over the site!!! From the yapping they all sound like small dogs. Some dogs bark constantly for 10 minutes or more without owners even trying to quieten them. We had
one such dog tied up right behind us and when I went to quieten it, the owner came and took it for a walk.
Before anyone says anything, we have a dog, she is lying outside just now, and if she was to start barking then we would be out to see to her right away! If people can't keep their dogs reasonably quiet then maybe they shouldnt let them out! I coul spend
all night going round asking if dogs could be quiet.
At this moment I can hear four separate happy dogs! Are the owners just oblivious to the yapping?

Ah, small dogs and yapping! Same on the site I was on last week. Great Dane, Dalmation and a Weimaraner all quiet. Ankle biters were a nuisance. I'm a dog lover too, so not anti dog what so ever.
That said, a dog barking is less disruptive to my holiday that kids throwing frisbees and landing on my van roof!

I fear this post is about to get closed, so before it does I must say that at times being on a club site is like camping in kennels
Not alot of differance to where we live 3 huskies at the back of us at times sounds like there killing each other. Big GS to the side, who is left all day in a kennel while his owners are out at work and now we have an ankle biter to the other side of us
that just yaps. Can't wait to get away in the van and hide on a nice quiet CL, only the sheep and chickens for company.0 -
Presently at Chatsworth and have been really impressed with the site and the high standards that are being achieved by the hard working wardens. However, there is a minority of people who are affecting others enjoyment of the site by having a totally irresponsible
attitude when it comes to allowing their dogs to bark. I agree with Tammygirl that at times it does feel like camping in a kennels. It's not the dogs to blame, it's the owners.0 -

The Community Manager has made it clear that the only place to discuss dogs and sites is on the thread
here. I will therefore close this thread but you are welcome to make comments in the main thread. Thanks
