We've finally got a date to have our van repaired after having an 'encounter' at a motorway park-up when i damaged the side of the van against a lorry rear-lift......."don't ask" !

Anyway, we had to wait for assessors, then approval, then a replacement side window and it will have been almost 4 months of lost time between the event and the return of the van.

My question is really, how good a repair can we expect in a 3ft long horizontal tear between 5 & 30mm in the alloy side and a small vertical impact ripple ?

I'm assuming it will be a good job, possibly repaired by inverting the damaged edge and filling before a paint coat.

One concern is the quality of paint match as they won't be painting the whole side and we have been told we may lose some decals.

To be honest, i just want the van back into use so I can stop kicking myself for my carelessness / stupidity.

Responses gratefully received and I'll post again regarding the finish (Dealer outsourcing the repair).
