Insurance claims

We have recently had Our caravan written off following a snake. We are insured with Sun Alliance through caravan guard. The accident occurred 2 weeks ago and we still haven't been given a settlement figure. I was wondering if this is the norm with caravans
or if it is our insurers?  What are your experiences and does anyone have any advice on how we can speed things up as we have another holiday booked in 2 weeks and no caravan to go in!!
