Alko towball and insurance

An independant caravan dealer and his mechanic told me today that my bog atandard 50mm towball didn't comply with insurance. If a non-Alko towball was fitted to an Alko hitch then insurance companies would not pay out in the event of an accident. They told
they had heard of people who had turned the caravan over in an accident and when it was discovered it was just a run of the mill 50mm towball the insurance co.s refused to pay out. Is this correct?
