On the power display it shows a wire and plug symbol, suggesting mains supply - but its there all the time even when on battery. Also when I plug into mains or disconnect the power supply panel resets clock - any ideas?

Not clear what model you have but our last caravan had a switch to allow you to use either the caravan battery or the cars when hitched,

Just been to have a look at my 2013 Coachman, and the icon of the plug & cable is the same as yours ie confusingly it's on whether the caravan is plugged in or not. The only thing I can think of re the clock is that your caravans battery is goosed ..... I've only had my caravan for a few months so not sure where the display is powered from - just presuming it's from the leisure battery.

The wire and plug symbol will show if the van is plugged into the mains, or if the solar panel is producing over 12.9v, sounds like the panel has a fault, easy to change yourself, make sure the dealer sends you a new suuround as well as the control panel.

Your battery will still be above 12.9v, put some lights on to drain the battery a little and the symbol will go.

Will do Laughing though I think the led lighting might take a while to drain the battery Laughing

Ive had my VIP 460/2 (2012) for 18 months and I have understood it was to show the battery was fully charged. We have solar panels on the roof and the symbol shows continuly. Also when on hook up on site.

sounds like the symbol means 'you need to plug into EHU' rather than 'the van is plugged into EHU'?.....ie battery low?Undecided

Well, it would be, until you had allowed it to return to its resting state.....Happy

let it rest for 24 nrs, then start seriously loading it, check out the symbols then.....

Thanks for all the replies - very interesting reading - battery is in good nick and according to the readings retains full charge - probably down to solar charger doing its work.

Solved!!  Popped van back into dealer and their warranty guys had a look whilst I waited.

After a bit of earlier investigation we spotted problem with control panel happened when car engine was turned on - bascially when the van spotted external 12v supply it killed the panel - not good - it should actually show a message saying car engine running
and revert to a locked panel. when engine was switched off the panel effectively reset itself. Quick call from dealer to Coachman - 15 mins investigation with them on speakerphone and problem was tracked to a change in the loom specification mid year and our
van having a mismatched fusebox and loom - affected only one wire so it was changed and bish bosh all 100%.

Great service from dealer(Knowepark Caravans) and Coachman
