Dometic fridge on gas

My fridge works fine on mains (I think it works on 12V also) but, on gas, it seems to stop working after about three days. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

I thought, maybe, that a low battery might be the cause but it still lights (electronic) OK when the battery is as low as 12.1volts.
