Ford Galaxy Parking Sensors

I recently replaced my old Ford Galaxy with a 2013 model. I had a fixed towbar fitted and I've found that the towbar interferes with the parking sensors (4 in total). It's rather annoying to say the least so I was wondering if anyone had this problem
and resolved it without changing the towbar? I was wondering can you disconnect the sensors themselves, cover them with insulating tape, change the programming of the
ECU etc. etc Thanks in anticipation,
