Towing electrics

Whilst travelling to North Yorkshire a couple of weeks ago I looked in the rear view mirror and notice that the side lights weren't showing so stopped ASAP.  On inspection we found the electrics cable was hanging loose.  The main body of the plug seemed
to have unscrewed itself as the car socket still had the male end of the plug firmly held in place.  Green Flag had us sorted out in 3 hrs.  Lesson learned and now check the plug before connecting.  Anyone else had this issue?
