From the recent 2014 sites supplement, I’ve discovered the following:

There is a total of 207 different sites, comprising 44 Affiliated sites and 163 Caravan Club sites.

The following synopsis accounts for Club operated sites. I have included combined (Club and Affiliated) figures in curly brackets alongside Club data thus:

There are163 CC sites {207 including Affiliated}.

There is a total 4.3M CC pitchnights available this year {5.4M pitchnights including Affiliated}.

That’s an average of 26,000 pitchnights
per site a year.

33 (20% of all) CC sites are open all year {48 (23% of all) sites including Affiliated}.

The CC keeps 3715 pitches open all year round {5078 pitches including Affiliated}.

3715 pitches is 23% of all the 16388 Club pitches available

{5078 pitches is 25% of the 20301 pitches available including Affiliated}.

Those sites that are not open all year are open an average of 230 nights per year (the range is considerable).

So, through the year, the number of pitches available rises from 3715 {5078 including Affiliated} during the off season, up to 16388 {20301 including Affiliated} pitches each day during high season. The high season is roughly April through September.

The average number of pitches per site is 101 {98 including Affiliated} all season, rising to an average of 113 {106 including Affiliated} pitches out of season.

There is a wide range of site sizes, from Cadeside with only 16 pitches to Brighton with as many as 269 pitches.

NB: All the data has been carefully collated from the 2014 Sites Supplement but is not guaranteed to be error free.
