Overnight parking in Dover
we are travelling to Dover next week for an early ferry to Dunkirk. Is there anywhere to park until about 5am when I presume that the port will be open? I did read that someone had parked on the beachside but as that was some years ago I am wondering if
there are now any better places?

Capel Farm CL is cheap, convenient and there is no problem leaving early. There is overnight parking on the Esplanade but it fills up quickly 51.12019 1.31302. The Plough and Harrow allow overnight parking if you eat with them 51.211807, 1.299428.

The Tesco's/truckstop off the Whitfield R.a.B.
The "Drum" just off the M20 on the left , A2680/Hythe turn.

last time we were there, we stayed at Marine Drive/Espalnade where MH/caravans are allowed free after 6pm and before 8am.
might be worth a call to dover council as these things change from time to time...

As far as I am aware nothing has changed in recent months - but will do in future as a result of the current Parking Strategy Review. The consultation finished a month ago, and a report is being prepared for member consideration next month, but details can be found Here.

thanks Graham.....lots of comsultant speak.....however, nice to see
"Manage parking by large vehicles, such as coaches and motorhomes, in a manner that encourages trips into the town centre without impacting upon traffic management"
as a key onjective....

It does look "jargony", doesn't it? It comes from trying to express a key objective in as few words as possible. From memory, the report itself expands on the jargon in a constructive manner, indicating that they do actually understand what they mean rather
than just filling the page with bull manureIn years gone by one of the tasks of my job was to explore such understanding. You get some interesting reactions when you ask "Well, chief officer, what exactly do you mean by the
baseline and who, exactly, are your stakeholders"Graham
