NEC Campsite pitches are on sale now!
We’re pleased to announce that pitches for our temporary campsite at The Motorhome & Caravan Show at the NEC in October are now on sale. The campsite will be open from 10 – 16 October.
SsangYong will be sponsoring the entertainment marquee on our temporary campsite, providing the venue for the evening entertainment and also house the bar and food outlet.
Pitches are £35 per night for a paved pitch and £30 for shingle, and this year we will be offering a Super Sunday rate at £25 for paved and £20 for shingle.

Many other forums, even quite small ones, often have a competition for free tickets to the NEC shows, usually they offer ten pairs of tickets. Given the Caravan Club has a far greater influence could we not do the same?

We have just returned from a trip to the lakes in a B&B on the way we stopped off in Redditch at Marstons Meadow Farm. For one night in a double room we paid 41 pounds. Decent Travelodge type room, fluffy towels, and included in this price a really tasty
and filling full English breakfast. To be honest we couldn't fault it. It's not that far from the NEC so my advice is, don't pay 35pounds, as above, leave the van at home and stop here for an extra 6 quid. Also the pub/restaurant next door does two meals for
the price of one, a genuine offer as two very good meals cost us 12 pounds. We aren't going to the show this year but if we were it would be a no brainer.0 -
notwithstanding the price, the main disadvantage is that you cant arrive early for the opening of the show, as you cant enter the CC area untill 11-00....so by the time youve got through the inevitable queue, it will be midday by the time you get into the
show...hardly good value, especially as youve paid £35 to,park there...similarly, you cant arrive late and use the next day to see the show as you have to be off by 10-00
...thats before you can actually
get into the show.....hmmmmm.if you really want to stay on site you have two choices (IMHO)..
either, book two nights for one days viewing (thats £70 to add to the ticket price.....)
or, drive to the normal NEC carpark in the morning (its free, why not stay there overnight?), visit the show in your own time, after the show move the van to the overnight car park, leave in the morning.....

When we went a few years ago we stayed at Warwick racecourse, drove into the NEC parked up free, spent the day there drove back to Warwick in the evening. Either that or stay at Chapel Lane if you can get in.

CS down the road at Junc 9 was £21 in Feb, commercial site at same location was £18 plus metered electric.
Everyone takes the opportunity to make money when the caravan show is on, and why not.
Normally car parking at the NEC is £10.

It looks like the 'entertainment' is valued at £10-15 per pitch
I don't need to stay over but I agree with BB that it doesn't allow for a full day at the show

TG, the C&CC usually run a THS at Croxall Farm, 7m NE of the NEC @ around £8 a night....very popular....
its even only 30mins on a bike and we saw some cycling in last year.

car parking is included in the ticket price, as it is with all shows ive attended there.....and not just the MH shows....
the main thing thats 'wrong' and drives the price up to daft levels, is the unnecessary provision of an EHU, its just not necessary for one (or even two nights)....and as for the 'entertainment'.....if i wanted that, id go to a theatre or similar, not the
NEC carpark.....of the C&CC. can provide a basic, no frills site for £8, why cant the CC offer (say) half their provision as a basic non-ehu area at, say, a tenner.....?
yes, as im refularly told, the setting up of ehu and generators etc costs a bomb.....simple answer, dont bother.....but then there would be no justification for the ridiculous prices.

Well, it's the NEC and everything is too expensive. If you park in the free car park and walk to the exhibition, you may pass Costa in the new shopping centre. Have a coffee there rather than queue in the exhibition hall and pay more.
As BoleroBoy says, there is no point staying at the £35 car park unless you are staying for two nights due to the entry/exit timing.

Attending NEC shows in the past we have stayed at sites (Warwick and Chapel Lane) and driven in, stayed at a hotel and driven in (nowhere near as comfortable and convenient as using our own va (which was why we got it in the first place)) and stayed on the
temporary site.The temporary site seems expensive but when one factors in all the costs and the hassle factor of the traffic or a hotel we prefer it over other options.

We have booked in for 3 nights and 2 days at the show as last time we found that due to my wife's disability we could not get around in one day. Yes it is a tad expensive but we like staying in our van, it's close by the venue ( wheelchair pushing distance)
and there is a beer tent with entertainment and a Tom Jones tribute act. What more can you ask for?0 -
