The Caravan Club will be at BritMums Live tomorrow celebrating the launch of this year’s Big Little Tent Festival, which encourages families to camp out in their own back gardens and get a feel for the great outdoors, with the comforts of home just steps
away. What are some of your best camping stories?

Many years ago we were camped at a small site on the banks of the River Weser just ouside the town of Hameln. We had spent the day in the town, seen the Pied Piper leading the children around, and the kids knew all about his job as the rat catcher. As they went to bed I told them to keep an eye out for rats from the river that might have escaped the piper. I was awoken in the night by a rustling and knawing sound from the living part of the tent. As soon as I moved to look something bolted from the tent. On shining a light out side, I saw a red squirrel staring back at me. I am not sure who was most startled. So just beware what stories you tell the kids when your camping.
