I own a Hymer caravan with a payload of, wait for it 350kg.   When in Spain this year I had the caravan weighed and found it was 125kg underweight which meant it was using 225kg of its payload.   There were only 2 of us using the caravan.

I have just finished reading the June issue of the Caravan Club magazine which has a report on the new Coachman Pastiche 525/4 which is a definite 4 berth with fixed bunks.   This van has a payload of 160kg for FOUR people.   Since I used 225kg for TWO people how in the world are you supposed to load 4 peoples clothes etc into this caravan with such a small payload.   It's no wonder caravans are so regularly overloadeed.

By the way, when I load my caravan I always put all the heavy stuff like awning/electric cooker/TV etc in the car.

Isn't it about time  the Caravanning Clubs put pressure on manufacturers to sort out this dangerous situation
