Tammygirl delighted you liked butternut squash and sweet potatoes. I roast loads of veg together and freeze in portion size, MrB not too keen, they're great to grab out and heat through from frozen if necessary!  Great as extra veg or on the top of a baked
sweet potato, bit of grated cheese on too or whizz it down with some stock into soup. Nice for real quick meals .

..Sweet potato and chocolate cake is yummySmile

Where you off to n this trip nellie?

Starting off at Igleborough then slowly working our way along the Fylde coast and then down along the English side of the Marches, as far as Hereford and back along the edge of the Cotwolds, all being well. Haven't totally planned where we'll go after our
    New Year site near Upton.

Hope the trip goes well Nellie. Smile

I've been printing certificates for the North West Shorthorn Region's Herd Competition. In September a Shorthorn judge from another region went round all the herds in our area (South Lakes up to Dumfries & Galloway). Eleven different classes for different
ages, in calf, in milk etc, progeny of one bull and overall herd and young stock. The rest of the family don't want to know the results unti the dinner on Friday, so I get a secret email and print in secret.

How did we do? I couldn't possibly comment!

Out for a walk in the lovely sunny , cold crisp weather today noticed we now have a herd of Shorthorn cattle in one of the fields near our chalk stream so thats another lovely site, along with a long established herd of Hebredean sheep in a field the other
side of the stream (not the same owners)

Busy day today. Took MIL to see her 2 siblings in Bury as both of them have had ops recently and are not too mobile. WE, (me, Mrs.WN and MIL), then went for lunch at Ask Italian, thanks to Tesco vouchers, on a big trading outlet next to Bolton's football
ground and after lunch drove the short distance to Rivington, near Horwich and just below Winter Hill to pay our respects to Mrs.WN's father, whose ashes are scattered there as this was a place the whole family used to go to every weekend for dog walking and
    general mischief.

There is some good walking to be had if you're in the area. Then an hour and half back on the motorway system into a beautiful view of the setting sun on the Welsh hills.

The roads seem to be manic at the moment and Middlebrook Outlet Park at Bolton was absolutely heaving, on a Tuesday in November! Mind you I do wonder when I see the range of stores what it's doing to town centres, where it's a fight to get in and you have
to pay for parking. Why bother when you can get most things at these outlet villages. I know that Chester city centre is suffering as a result of nearby outlet villages.

Thanks H&T. Forecast looks good for the start of the trip. Dislike driving in high winds, but the High Pressure system looks to be sticking around for a while yet, but it's going to get a bit cloudier and warmer with low wind speeds.

Been gloriously sunny but chilly, no wind otherwise it would be very very cold. Sun going down now, not very pink/red but very cold looking. MrB moved the cold frame to it's winter quarters, trimmed up outdoor plants and installed in their winter home. He
also drained the water feature which had a good coating of ice in it this morning. Did my first real feeding of the birds this morning, as in mealworms and extra seeds on the ground and bird table.

Malcolm you meeting boss to discuss hours or pay rise?

    V9 how did it go?

Write your comments here...The boss treated us to some food and drink at Uncle Sams, Broadwater. Yes I may get an increase because of the delivery fees going up beginning of December due to fuel price increases.

Whoopee, get my beloved ML back today after a mid life upgrade!  6 years old now and nearly 70,000 on the clock she needed 4 tyres, 4 sets of brake pads, 4 new discs (Big ones) and a repair to the turbo pipe which was leaking.

Have been warned to expect a bill of about £2,000 but if that keeps her going, for another 3 years or so OK.  Both previous sets of tyres lasted 35,000 as did the pads, and she hasn't cost me anything else in the 70,000 miles so not too bad I suppose. Didn't
    expect the discs though!

TF good to hear you're pleased, even with a £2000 bill . No idea to begin with what you were talking about, further on I assume a car .  Sounds quite a bargain compared to a new one!!!!

Write your comments here...Our caravan heating can run on gas or electric, so our fuel costs will only go up if we use gas because the electric is included in the site fees.

Having said that, we are finding that 1 kw is not sufficient in the present freezing conditions. Also the outside water point is frozen so we are relying on our on board supply until it is available again.

We have to run the electric heating on a minimum if 2 kw at the moment but are finding 3 kw better. We can use 3 kw as long as there are no other electric appliances on. 3 kw warms up more quickly. Once it has reached the required temperature we can down it to 2kw to maintain that temperature.

Very thick frost this morning - the dogs get quite excited when it's like this! Perfect day to put on those extra layers and give them an extra long outing. Might venture down to Lacock and get out on the surrounding hills this afternoon.

Just back from an absolute hammering at bowls - so the extra glass of the red stuff tonight will be consolation rather than celebration! Wink

Weather looks set fair for the next several days; we're off down to Cornwall on Friday and it's looking hopeful!
