father in Laws licence

Myfather in law has today recieved his new licence after changing his address and noticed his catagories have changed and he is not happy! He has been driving bike and cars for over 45 years however he has lost alot of his categories ie 7.5 tonne etc but this had us checking what we are entitled to drive when pulling. We have a family hatch and small caravan, our total weight is 2700kg where the limit is 3500kg, how many people pull a 6 berth van with a Navara (for example) we got this weight to 4200kg which is alot more than the legal weight. Obviously this only applies once you change or renew your licence but i bet there are lots of people out there who dont realise that they are towing beyond the legal limits
