Touring and parking up

Hi,

Looking forward to retirement in a few months time, we have bought a lovely Bailey Vendee and have had our first week away.  Our plan is to explore the UK,
using CLs as much as possible and wonder if anyone has any experience of towing to a region, exploring that region then leaving the caravan on a site ( I assume that the charges for an unoccupied van is less) returning home for a week or two, then
returning to move the caravan to a different location. Is this a common practice or not a good idea?
