Undecided  Ye gods, what a palaver, these CC sites!

    I'm definitely sticking with CLs.

I like Navigateur's two peg proposal it provides lattitude to suit your outfit whilst preserving the correct distance to those either side. I also agree that sometimes there is not enough room to reverse a caravan onto its pitch. My overall length for a
t/a and Landrover is 42 ft and especially if there is a awning opposite with guy lines out it rules out enough space to put sufficent lock onto the tow car. There have been many sites where I could not get into the correct position without unhitching and using
    the mover.

    Three, TF.

I gave up Club sites when I heard that wardens were to be issued with dinky cars to instruct me how to park. Do they still have them?

Frankly for newcomers to club sites this was a brilliant brainwave by someone. The wardens only have to show them the model and it saves a thousand words. It is far more understandable than any long winded explanation.

We were on a 'Northern' CC site last week and I duly reversed the caravan to the peg, when I went to put the car beside the caravan, the car was two thirds over the grass which I thought was unusual, usually the car fits, all be it a bit tight. I apoligised
to the lady on the next pitch for being so close to her and she told me the reason for being so far over was because the previous occupant of the pitch reversed his caravan a long way from the peg and then moved the peg to be in line with the caravan. This
obviously explained all, I wonder how many pitches this is done on when you can not park the car on the pitch.

The Wirral, I pitched exactly to the peg and ended up with the drivers side car wheels just on the grass, with loads of room after the canopy's up. I'm now at Craigie gardens, Ayr, and again exactly to the peg, and my car sits perfectly on the hardstanding with room to spare and plenty of room after the canopy's up.

So perhaps the peg was moved at the Wirral, I'm not a regular user of CC sites to know if there are differences in pitch widths but the Ayr site is spot on.

Probably worth asking, if there is no obvious explanation. However, sometimes, as on the site we are on at the moment, it is just down to spacing. I was looking at a non awning sandwiched between two awnings. It is exactly the same size as the awning pitches. However, the grass strip on one side is very narrow, so required separations would not be maintain. Hence, I assume, its non awning status. This does allow sensible positioning of the peg on other pitches. If the non awning was not inserted peg creep would be required to get the spacing.

perhaps the simple answer is a bog standard pitch and take a leaf out of bath chew valley, let the wardens valet park for you not your fault if things go wrong

Not a chance we would go for this - if CC took this route we would stop going to CC sites. Apart from anything else how would you know their hitch was 100% clean and grease free and wasnt going to mess up your alko hitch?

..Just think of the can of worms that would open in this litigation society ,hence the refusal by wardens now

Possibly by valet parking he really means escorted to a pitch by a warden

CCC do this - its fine if they just escort you to the pitch and go but otherwise I find it irritating and would avoid it of choice.

I think I might quite like this valet parking idea. Would they come and collect the 'van the day before like Cunard (or is it Saga) do with the luggage when one is going on their cruise?

Couldn't use the dinky little tractors of course, as the negative noseweight when moving would lift them right up and drop them on their noses!

One can always swivel the caravan so that the corner aligns with the peg. Doesn't look as tidy mind.

Hopefully said tongue in cheek, perhaps a smiley should have been applied. If not totally unacceptable behaviour. If you pay to stay on site you accept the terms and conditions, which means pitching with correct safety spacing. If you can't do this please
    go elsewhere.

I was shown the photos of the recent caravan fire by the warden here at Castleton yesterday. They are quite horrendous. If more could see them then it is very easy to understand the importance of the rule.

Could be a plan.  Until you encounter somone who can measure 6 meters and has a big bull bar on their 4x4!

On one occassion I was a bit out and moved the peg a few inches. Ithen found there was no power on the hook up so had to call out the warden who spotted it was wrong but put it down to the last occupant of the pitch and moved it back.
