Interference to caravan mover signals.
I was speaking on the phone to someone at Powrwheel. I asked if it was true that caravan movers can be disrupted by signals from phone masts and suchlike. He said yes, it was possible. All makes of movers can be disrupted. What happens is that the mover can't hear its own signal properly because the other signal blocks some of it out. He likened it to trying to have a conversation in a noisy room - too much noise and you can't make out what the other person is saying. He said it was quite a rare phenomenon and that it should cease once the caravan was out of range of the intruding signal. I asked if this interference could cause lasting damage to the mover and was given an emphatic "No". The software in tne mover's control panel does not get "fried" nor does it get re-set. Nor will the caravan start moving of its own volition. After the event everything should work normally. I thought I'd pass this info on to the forum.

Had an interesting occurance last weekend.
Was watching the telly when someone arrived at the opposite pitch. As soon as he started using his motormover the telly started rolling through the channels. Initially I thought it was the telly itself, pressed Menu and that to was scrolling through all
of the options. As soon as the motormover was switched off the telly was OK.
One to remember for the future!

The remote on my mover can be connected directly to the control box (with a long jack cable) precisely to overcome the interference issue if necessary ... or if the 9v battery is flat. ( I have never needed to use it)

At Minehead, last July we had an interference problem. The mover kept cutting out, then starting again. At first we thought it was interference from another mover, as someone close by, was manovering at the same time. However, on mentioning it to the Warden,
he said it was a common problem and that there was a radio mast nearbye.0 -
Today I heard that the role out of 4G can disrupt and even totally block terrestrial TV & Freeview . Apparently, this is a very real problem so I guess motor-movers could also be effected. Some others, unaware of this, may also be blaming their van aerials!

4G had already rolled out in most places around the country and there have been very few examples of interference with TV signals. Most of the scare stories date from 2013 when the roll out was due to start. They proved to be just that, scare stories!
Any interference was dealt with by adding a filter to the tv ariel cable.

Ths 'story' comes from a glossy leaflet (distributed on behalf of all the major mobile operators) This has been dropped through every house letter box in our town this week!
They either didn't learn the lesson of 2013 or the problem is more than just scare stories, although they do suggest in the leaflet that only a small number of instances of disruption is expected.

Write your comments here...Two years ago one of these filters arrived through my letter box from an organisation called "at800" I never asked for it and thankfully have not needed it, so it is still in a drawer.
Returning to the mover, holding the remote nearer to the PCB and it's aerial might help overcome any interference
