I got married in 1969 and made my dress for £5., borrowed the headdress and veil.  I think I've still got the dress but having moved 3 times and cleared three lofts I'm not sure - however this was discussed with OH recently as our Church is planning a festival
and someone suggested a wedding dress display. We've not got anything in our current loft as we've got deep insulation so I'm wondering where the dress could be.  I wonder if I could display the OH instead?

I still have mine, 46 years on. I made it in the week between leaving college and getting married. Plus the handmade headdress. I know they are no use, and I haven't opened the case for twenty years, but they are a part me and I couldn't part    with them.

Theres also my Christening robe, made by my Nan from some 19th century material.

    46 and a half years ago . .

A few years ago we had a fund raiser (possibly Children in Need) at school and it was decided all the staff were to come in their wedding dresses or suits. It was amazing to see so many meringues (and not my original suit - as if it would fit!) and loads
of photos were taken. By lunchtime it was back to 'sensible' dress!

Thanks for your interesting comments everyone. Will still keep the dress but Valda you are right in ..when the day cometh the boys will no doubt chuck it without a thought.

We also have loads of our boys toys in the attic including a boglin (could never understand the appeal)  ed the duck hand puppet various ninja turtle figures and WWF stuff, figures the belts and a wresting ring that Grandad made.

    Happy days
