Hi Debbie and welcome to Club Together.  In answer to your question, regarding Caravan Club sites, possibly Coniston Park Coppice but the Caravan and Camping Club do have sites at Keswick.

There's also Coniston Hall Camp Site but they don't take caravans.

Coniston Park Coppice is next to the lake so you cannot get any closer. Borrowdale is second nearest.

Also one at Bowness, very close to Lake Windermere and walking distance to the ferry across.

There are also a few commercial sites adjacent to Lake Windermere eg Hall of Oaks & Fellbarrow Park

"Coniston Park Coppice is next to the lake so you cannot get any closer".

    That statement is incorrect.

Coniston Park Coppice is not next to the lake. To reach the lake one has to walk  down hill through the site (which is large) then across a field.

As regards not being able to get closer to a lake. the Keswick CCC site is on the shore of Derwentwater.

Viewing both sites on google maps will show their positions in relation to the lakes.
