Why I didn't renew
After my 1st year with our motorhome, I thought I'd post as to why I didn't renew.
1 - Rules Rules Rules. The culture of rules is horrendous. Everywhere you go you see rule signage. Its so off-putting.
The rules about pitching are very frustrating. Even though I don't have 3 items (caravan, car, awning) because I have a motorhome, I still have to pitch the same way - well, I have a european motorhome (as do lots of other people that I see every time I
travel), and this puts my door and awning on the wrong side - right at the limit of the pitch. So I have to "front-in", which is far from desireable.
But rules are rules are rules. Right?
There are even rules-galore on these web-forums as to what can and what can't be discussed.
2 - Target age group. Its clear that the CC is for over 50's. Fair enough, that's the target and I'm not part of it. No complaints, its just not for me.
Side comment: I find it extraordinary that such an age group are unable to discuss a wide-range of topics on a web forum without resorting to agression that lead to bans being placed on certain topics. I post on half a dozen forums, with a varied audience
(from football, to IT to festival chat) and not one single time have I come across banned topics.
Frankly, this is shameful. You folks need to learn to respect eachother (and that goes for members and mods/admins)
3 - The insurance quote I recevied from the club this year was clearly incorrect.
2013 quote was £600 (paid £440 elsewhere)
2014 quote was £2300 (paid £360 elsewhere).
Now, its abundantly clear to anyone with a brain that a mistake was made somewhere, but even though it was looked into, all I got back was that "it is to do with your No claims discount". Which makes a load of sense, given that in 2013 I had zero NCD, but
in 2014 I had 1 year. So obviously that should add £1700 to the price!
To get a "We're sorry we couldn't win your business this year" reply was insulting - its clear there's a mistake somewhere, but nobody was interesting in looking into it properly.
I will end by saying that I thought the sites we used were excellent. I don't recall any of the non-CC sites being as good as any of the CC sites that we used. Can't say I ever had a bad experience the entire time - although we did often feel completely
out of place due to the age difference between ourselves and the other "guests" (we are 28&34).
That said, I'm still reeling at the England qualifier being turned off every single screen so that the Elvis tribute act could start! Every single screen - even the ones that were not being used to show the act in a different room!! hahaha :-)
Just thought I'd give some feedback. Hopefully it won't be taken as some kind of agressive assault and Deleted User on-sight.
PS - Whoever does your IT must be laughing all the way to the bank. I'm an IT professional, and I cringe at the design of this place, its woeful. The forum software wouldn't have been acceptable in 2000, nevermind 2014.
