WhatsApp in CC WiFi

Hi everyone.  I've just returned from three nights at Bolton Abbey (Strid Wood) CC site where there is NO mobile phone signal or TV signal at all.  TV has analogue channels available via a booster cable for each pitch.  The only way to communicate out from
the site though (other than the phone box) is via the WiFi.

I expected to keep in touch with family using WhatsApp.  The WiFi service though is "prevented" from accessing WhatsApp for some reason.  I had to resort to Facebook Messenger, most reluctantly. 

Can ayone tell me why WhatsApp has been barred from the service, and whether this is a policy from CC or from AirAngel?
