Free mobile internet & calls package !!
As promised on another thread, I've been testing a totally free service that gives you mobile internet over the Vodafone network.
After a month, I'm happy to say it works just fine
There are 2 packages to chose from - either a data-only where you get 750Mb per month (ideal for tablet devices) or a general package with 150 mins, 250 Texts and 500Mb of internet use.
My wife's mobile deal ended last month, and she's been using this as her mobile phone sim card since with no issues at all.
All you need is an unlocked device, (or, I think one locked to Vodafone will work - you'll need to check).
Of course, there is a catch. Well, 2 I suppose
1 - The Sim card is £15. However, once activated, you get £15 of credit on your account, which is only used if you go over your monthly allowences (came in handy when we were in Spain last week)
2 - The service is paid for by ads. These only appear when you are browsing the internet (not in calls, texts or on smartphone apps). Every few pages, you will get a short advert. Just wait a moment, and a "Continue" button appears. Press that, and it
goes away.
My wife tells me the ads are not that bad. Especially since she rarely browses the internet on her phone, but instead uses apps (For news, email, facebook etc).
I've been meaning to get one as a second "in the motorhome" for a while now, as I'm on EE, and this would give me more chances to get a connection if EE doesn't have coverage in a specific location.
I could put a referral link up to get a little bit of credit for each sign-up, but in the interests of "I'm recommending this because its good, not because I want something out of it", I've deciced not to.
