Recommendations for a free blog site please

Hi, we will hopefully be heading off on our trip to Europe in October. In order to keep family & friends back home up to date on on how we are doing wanted to start a blog, any recommendations for a good, free, easy to use site? Not really sure how they
work from a posting point of view hopefully a suitable one to use with a notebook and smart phone, and easy for the users back home, both our parents are a bit worried about us going off, so something easy for them to use, they are ok on internet but don't
use any social networks. Not planning war & peace just something for personal use. Thanks
