Foam cut outs for shelves

Hi All,

I wonder whether anyone has made foam inserts for shelves/lockers with cut-outs in them to hold mugs/plates/pans or whatever in place and stop them rolling around? I'd be grateful for any advice from someone who has made these i.e. best type of foam and
how to cut the foam.
