Holes in insect blinds!! Help!

First weekend away this season, cleaned blinds nicely following tips from on here. Then blind was knocked by me and sprang up, coming out of guides, and somehow creating a series of holes in the netting.....

Is it possible to remove from bottom piece of metal and cut off offending 2 inches, there seem to be lots spare, and replace. If so how? A new blind costs over £70.....and it could easily happen again.

Its not a nice piece of kit, very plastic, but only a year old. To change them all would cost a fortune!
