Dashboard Camera

I am looking at getting a dash board cam any recommendations would be appreciated. Am not too fussed about buying something expensive as am not looking to shoot feature film, also is it best to attach it to the windscreen, which is a bus ride forward
of the drivers seat or can it be mounted on the top of the dashboard like I have my satnav and get satisfactory results, I know it needs to be within the sweep of the wipers?
