Been wondering what's the best way to stow some of the frequently used bits and bobs I seem to carry in the garage. We have some shelves in there, but wondered what everybody elese did? E.g. Hose, tools, EHU cabel etc.

I use old wardrobes. Keeps the dust off, keeps the mice out  and looks fairly tidy. The trouble with "stuff" is that it expands to fill the available space. My basement is about 100 sq m and everything in there might come in useful one day.

I've fitted netting racks in the garage i.e thin rope netting, the sort used for hammocks together with bungee supports. They're lightweight and when emptied they spring out of the way. I use them for folding chairs and tables, groundsheets etc.

We use large polythene boxes with lids. They were purchased from Wilkinsons being just the right size to fit and lock themselves together. Also the right size to lift out when full say 10 to 15 Kgs.  If you sort your kit out weight wise, it it's quite useful
to equally load side to side.  Having lids, locks the boxes vertically, and allows a certain amount of lift and sliding to manhandle the boxes when in the garage.

Wink I use fold flat cases from " Range" they make up into good size boxes that you can slide about/lift out/or tie down with 'bungy' expanders..

We use a large plastic Really Useful box for cleaning products such as washing powder, other occasinally used domestic tools such as dustpan and brush, and toilet chemicals. Sits on the garage floor.

Reeels and hoses are propped up on the floor in home-made bags - similar to those produced by the excellent Bags 4 Everything people, sundry bits and bobs including tools go in small netted boxes fitted by the manufacturer. Spare wheel and leisure chairs
are fixed using straps from load securing points.

Three plastic storage boxes fitted with non slip sticky pads. One for spare bedding , one for caravan stuff and one for oil, anti freeze etc......

We bought our racking system from Germany:

    http://www.rg-reisemobil-regalbau.de/

Go can get a system designed to your own specifications and either buy the boxes (eurobox) in the UK or from them. The owner is a keen motorhomer. He can do fixed racks or boxes on sliders, particuarly good for garages with lower roofs. Another supplier
is Abenteuer-Caravan.de though I found them more expensive. Their webside does however have a very large catologue of projects completed so you can enter your model and review the garage layouts completed - a good source of ideas.

Most of these systems use aluminium tracking. This is readily available at: http://uk.rs-online.com/ if you want to build your own system. Eurobox crates are widley available try Plastor : http://www.plastor.co.uk/ for good prices.

Similar to the Fiamma garage racking.

    Very nice, but pricey :-)

Thanks for that, I'll take a look at these.

The aluminium racking is very nice, we use something similar in work. I'll have to have a word with the boss to see if she will allow me to spend the cash :-)
