Volkswagen Tiguan?

My brand new Lunar Quasar caravan has just arrived.  Now just need  a car that will tow with a newbie at the wheel. I have set a few limits - £17k 3 years old and the Tiguan seems to fit the bill. Kia and hyundai and ford crossovers are a bit beyond my limit.
The Nissan qashqai is too lightweight for the caravan. The Caravan Club outfit match gives the Tiguan the thumbs up. So....

How important is it to have 4 wheel drive? We dont plan on using fields, just CC sites. Any other comments on tiguans very welcome.
