may be some people read too much in some of the posts , it's only a forum ,and it does say you can give your "help ,advice and opinion "
As I get older I see to be getting more laid back
And which category would you put the smug post in question into, Husky? Help - no; advice - no; opinion - more like opinionated.
TW , I'm not going to fall out with you over this , I don't see a smug post , I don't know why you let certain posters get to you , its not real life
Husky, you crack me up at times. That's a great script.

I am pleased for those at Chatsworth that, with the exception of hot water in the block, it has all been sorted out. Hopefully they can enjoy the rest of their break. However, reading all this has made me think about how we would cope. We have been on sites with short outages, but nothing of this magnitude. We always carry 2 gas, as they are in a mid locker and nose weight is not a problem. So we would be OK on gas for a while. We are guilty though of not running our appliances regularly on gas, so this is something I will try and do more often, to avoid problems getting them going. 12 volt would be our main problem, as we usually use the power mover to position the van, so it would not have a full charge. Lights are LED so minimal drain, however the heating pump will use more. Not sure how long this would last. We have no way of recharging the battery other than mains. Of course the only water we travel with is a few bottles of mineral water, which would last a while for drinks. I would imagine this scenario would apply to many caravaners.
Write your comments here...Steve go out for a drive see the scenary. Pick up a take away and then go home and dine by candlelight with a bottle or two of wine. What's missing!.

Is it not as simple as having some level of contingency should things (gas / water) go wrong and or go home?
Motorhomers can prepare as mentioned and Caravanners could jump in their car and in conjunction with picking up drinking water at the local store pop out for takeaway / sit-down meal and candles followed by a chat and cuddle......sounds good to me - if all
still going wrong in the morning repeat or pop home!0 -

Very little is missing, my point was that we would probably not have any problems, as long as we could get the gas appliances functioning. I suspect the battery would last at least 24 hours. Of course if we could not get the fridge onto gas we would have
no need for a take away, as plenty of food would require eating.0 -
To be fair, it doesn't sound like anyone was drastically inconvenienced, and I am sure CC did all that could be done in the timescale. The only major inconvenience that would eventually have affected everyone, would have been lack of water for toilet flushing,
whether using site or own facilities. Almost anything else could have been, and probably was, just worked around. I am sure if CC had thought that things were going to be prolonged, visitors would have had the option to either stay or go, and fresh water bowsers
put in place for those showing true Dunkirk spirit!0
