To avoid hijacking the Statins thread - I thought we should come here!  I was quite lucky with my thyroid issues in that a Naturopath (from America) I was working with told me I was Hypo through muscle testing and warned me that it would be years before
it showed in an NHS blood test.  I was then forwarned and got hold of some books on the subject - one by Dr Barry Peatfield who I was lucky enough to manage to see just after the GP had said "Thyroxine".  There is a large body of people who disagree with NHS
guidelines (The reason you feel better on higher numbers!)  I find the knowledge of fellow sufferers immensely useful - and have met most of the founders at Conferences etc etc.  The group has a website - with a forum so you can post your blood test results
and get some insight etc etc.  thyroid patient advocacy

My GPs don't want to know what I amdoing as long as the blood tests come out OK!  But last time when I had changed pills - there was a concern that I was overdosing.  So I hopped on the website and was told that the results looked as though I had taken the
medication that morning - quite correct!  So TSH and T4 peaks at exactly the time I had the test!  So next test I took the pills after the blood was taken!  Not rocket science exactly - but the GP wanted me to lower the dose when there was no reason.  My lot
will test for T3 which not all will -  in fact my daughter asked to be tested the other day and her GP will only test for TSH.

Spent some time reading through, plenty there, plenty to digest. I must be one of the lucky ones - thankfully .  Once again thanks for the link.

Yes there is a lot to take in - and so many people are suffering badly.  I am lucky too it seems but so glad I read those books and learnt the history of how it all works!  Some enterprising GP started cutting up his dead patients and found shrivelled thyroid
in so many he proved the link!  There have been some awful horror stories of mis diagnosis and the rest.
