Spare Wheel on Latest Ducato

Perhaps I am a bit nerdy but I like to drop the spare wheel on the motorhome every year to ensure the mechanism is ok, and check the pressure.  In my previous Peugot Autosleeper (07 registered) this was possible with a bit of a struggle.  We now have a Fiat
Ducato CI Autoroller S Line and it is just a year old.  I tried to drop the spare wheel today and I have to say it is pretty well impossible to get it out.  The cable is too short and so the spare wheel when down on the ground is still well under the vehicle.
To release the wheel the vehicle would have to be right up in the air and the wheel lifted off the ground, one handed of course, while the central wheel mechanism is released from underneath.  I think even a breakdown team would struggle with it.   Reading
other blogs people have been complaining about foam tyre kits because they work in only 50% of cases.  Well I have a spare I can use in 0% of situations.  I might just get a foam kit on the basis it gives me a better than zero chance.  Anyone else found
the same and/or come up with a solution?
