2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Witter tow bar Fixed flanged
Hi, Has anyone had a problem with the Witter Fixed Flanged tow bar supplied by Hyundai as an accessory.Firstly every 800 - 1000 miles towing, the four bolts securing the cross member to the chassis mounting brackets lose tightness allowing the bracket to swivel down and trap the spare wheel in position. My theory is that the serrated nuts do not lock the bolt heads and they are turning allowing the bar to drop. Why have Witter changed from nyloc nuts that are more secure? Secondly the ball is very low and even with a smaller jockey wheel removal is essential while travelling. Thirdly with the ALKO ball fitted it sticks out far too far from the bumper putting additional load on the bolts that are coming loose. Fourthly, a floor seam has to be cut away to avoid contact with the chassis mounting brackets to avoid a loud creaking on uneven road surfaces. Neither Witter or Hyundai are interested.
