Mercedes E350 CDI Estate for towing

Hi all,  I am a fairly new caravanner starting our 2nd full season this year. I have sadly got to let my Volvo XC90 go which seemed a great tow car for our Charisma 620. I am looking at getting a Mercedes E350 CDI estate as it should be alot more economical
to run than the Volvo.  I just wondered if anyone knows if it is upto the job with our van ( I believe the MTPLW for the van is 1685kg).  I also wondered if this car would result in a nose down towing position as it seems the tow bar would be alot closer to
the ground than with my current car.  I would hate to swap my car and then find it wasnt capable of towing our beloved caravan!!  Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can offer.
