How long we stay at one site depends on how long we want to be there. i.e. how much do we think there is to see and do in that area? I don't think we are influenced by the fact that we are caravanners, I think we'd feel the same if we had a motorhome though we would may have to reconsider our actual stops to take into account local transport limitations.

There is no reason why we motorhomers cannoy stay on site for the same length of time as caravanners. Some places in the UK are out of bounds because of access restrictions but that doesn't bother us because there is always plenty to see. When we caravanned
we used bikes, our feet, and public transport just as much, or as little, as we do now as motorhomers. Just remember, coaches and buses tend to get everywhere!0 -
I , like David also have found that motorhome users tend to move on more frequently. This as a general observation and I have met exceptions to this. Likewise I have met caravaners who move on frequently. As they say, 'Takes all sorts'
Just do whatever suits you.

When we caravanned especially since we retired and were able to stay away longer we actually tended to stay in places for shorter periods so when we changed to a motorhome we carried on as before. We do find that its easier to set up and pack up with a motorhome
so deciding to move on after a day or two is easier. Our average stays are 3/4 nights. The last time we stayed anywhere for two weeks was in 2002!!! The only place we would be inclined to stay longer anywhere is the South of France.David

I think that the length of time you stay at one place is more down to your personality than what you arrive in.
That's quite a generalisation, WW. No two of us are the same. We now stay less nights than we did when we had a cvan but various factors come into play and until you've tried both types of unit you probably won't appreciate the freedom of adapting your ways.

For me it depends on the place. Some of the big sites, off peak in Spain which have every facility you could wish for to meet day to day living including cash machines and doctors surgeries, we are quite happy to chill out and stay 10 days or even much longer.
When I had a caravan, if anywhere we wanted to visit was more than 30/40 miles away we moved on anyway so we find a motorhome meets our style of touring with minimal effort.peedee
