Buying a second hand car for towing

When looking for second hand cars suitable to use as a tow car, on eBay and on dealers' websites, have you noticed how 'shy' sellers are about admitting a car has a towbar and electrics fitted? They often don't mention it in the blurb, and often the photographs
don't show the rear of the car clearly to show. Are they afraid that potential purchasers will think that a car has been trashed by the previous owner when towing? I look on the positive side that it saves the extra cost of having the towbar and electrics
fitted. What do you think?
