Corner steady

Had a recent problem with a broken winding bar on a caravan corner steady, it snapped while trying to 'level' our caravan. Was replaced under warranty by our dealer  (thanks mark) and we were given bits of advice. 1. Don't use a high power drill to lower the corner steady and 2. It's a corner steady, not a levelling device! Trying to level a loaded van (1650kg) will put the cnr stdy under strain and all you do is push down on one side of the suspension. I can level front and back using the dolly wheel any tips on how best to level the van on the sides? Best I can think of is lower the cnr steadies, raise the dolly wheel and lower the uneven side rather than raise the opposite side. Any further advice would be welcome.
