Hi All

we have just joined the CC -and bought our first motorhome this month, once I retire in a few months we plan to use the motorhome as much as possible and are already planning some long trips into Europe.

We need to get UK and Europe breakdown cover so really would appreciate any advice or recommendations that you can give us on the best insurance provider based on your experiences.

thanks

Hi PeeandDee, the Club work with Greenflag to offer Members UK Mayday breakdown cover
http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/insurance/uk-breakdown-and-recovery. For overseas we recommend taking out a Red Pennant policy. More information can be found here

I may be too late with my reply.

UK and European breakdown cover is often available with insurance.

I am with Caravan Guard for my MH insurance and UK breakdown is included in premium. I don't travel abroad anymore so didn't take European cover which I think is extra.

The clubs insurance is not the cheapest but the cover is wide and the service excellent. Personally I would not risk cheaper policies for the modest savings.

There is another thread on this subject and from what I read - I am considering switching to ADAC next time.  They sound a lot less expensive than GreenFlag and very efficient.  I am currently on the other clubs plan - and it worked ok in a crisis in the
UK - whether it would work so well across the water I can't say.  ADAC was our breakdown in a previous life when I was a Forces wife in Germany!  I don't remember calling on them then though.  But they are a huge organisation.

We normally use Red Penant and Mayday cover through the club. However this year I am towing a trailer behind my motorhome with my motorbike on it. Red Penant do not cover the trailer unless its the motorhome that has the breakdown, so I looked elsewhere.
After lots of considerations i decided that Green Flag Euro + was the one I was going to go with. It gives me 12 months cover both in UK and Europe for the motorhome and the trailer at just under £100.
