Painted Towball - Greased Hitch

I have had a removable Witter Towbar fitted to my new Skoda Octavia. The new ball is painted black and I understand that it is necessary to remove the paint from the ball when using an Alko type stabiliser fitted in the hitch. Our caravan uses a greased
hitch and a 'blade' stabiliser. Is it necessary to remove that paint from the ball when using a greased hitch?
