How damaged is too damaged to keep?

I've just seen an advert for a nearly new caravan (at least in age!) at about half price - because the roof and a wall have been dented all over by hailstones- the selling salvage company stress that the paint surface has not been broken, so presumably the
caravan could still be used without concern of damp ingress- this could be a good bargain for someone.
