Have any of you been watching the remakes of the famous comedy series? I though some had been quite good but others less so. Goodnight Sweetheart worked because of the original cast. Porridge and Are you Being Served were funny but I found myself thinking
back to the original cast.

Have been watching them, really enjoyed Porridge and Goodnight Sweetheart, wasn't sure about Young Hyacinth though.  Hoping they may make some more.

Nor me although the actor playing young Hyacith was excelent, especially the voice, but it didn't quite fit in with what came later in the real series?

Loved Goodnight Sweetheart I think they have set the story up for a full series which would be great having all the origiinal cast certainly helped. Watched Porridge and wasnt impressrf Young Hyicinth was ok but not sure it really worked

Where are the innovative shows like "The young ones", not the nine o'clock news even Dick Emery?

Nothing like them before. Don't get repeating the past all the time.

By contrast while flicking through the channels last night I came across a repeat of BBC's tribute to David Croft, first broadcast just after his death in 2011. Original clips from Hi de Hi, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, You Rang M'lud and, especially, Allo Allo.

    Marvellous stuff! Happy

Yes I agree but that's different to commissioning new old stuff if you get my meaning

Yep, I know what you mean and I agree. I haven't been impressed with any of the "modern" versions - the Hancock's Half Hour was particularly dire, I thought.

I went to the Edinburgh fringe and some of the stand up comedians were really good. The talent is there but the beeb keeps showing the same old faces.

All the best m  Got to skoot we are all off for a walk.
