Towing with Volvo xc90 or xc60

We tow a Bailey Unicorn Valencia with a LWB Shogun with no problems, but the car may need to be replaced in the near future due to age. Experiences of towing with either an XC60 or XC90 would be weclome including merits of considering an automatic as these
could be an option. We have always had manuals. Also are the headlights switchable for continental driving?
