Help on a good tow car

We own a bailey series 7 Limosuin which weighs 1.4t approx and was thinking of updating our car to a 08 /09 VW passat 170bhp 2.0L TDI Auto. The dealer has assured me that the spec of BHP and 1.8t towing would suffice. Has anyone had any experience with this
vehicle towing this type of weight.
