Don't have a brush in the van for the very reasons of the difficulty of storing and cleaning it. Instead, we clean the bowl with disposable paper.

Can you imagine the micro bacterial count from a used bog brush?

    Off the scale.Surprised

That's why you don't see them in hospitals for the general public to use.Yell

If you do want a toilet brush for the van loo ,I think W4 still do a small one in a holder that can be attached to a surface,

Use biodegradable paper preferably,  wet wipes used at home or when out are a menace in the sewage systems. They might say flushable, but they aren't really further down most sewage systems.

The tried and tested X marks the spot in most tourer loos is the best method. Cross of paper on the shut trap, perform the dastardly deed, open trap, the deed falls through the hole wrapped in paper, quick flush, jobs a good one. You can buy posh versions
to put over trap, I think some on here have used them.Happy

I also thought that wep wipes and the like were unsuitable for flushing down toilets or pouring down caravan site foul wastes.

The method I have found most effect to avoid the need to use a brush (or wipes) is an open blade and good aim by all involved.

[Don't put wet wipes down the caravan or motor home toilets as the places they are emptied all go straight to sewer and the wipes contribute to blockages.]

Yes Nav, a good aim is the potty pinnacle, but there may be occasions when things, ahem, malfunction! Youth, old age, too much wine or other beverages, curry night, visitors, etc.....

In extreme circumstances, I understand a hot kettle, not boiling mind, can assist! Never tried it though.Happy

antisectic or it is anti bacterial (whatever) wet wipes, which we throw away and then dried with paper towels, also thrown away in the rubbish bins in a sealed pastic bag. When we had them nappy sacks were good.

Mrs C usually does it on the last day while I'm empting the cassette. And before anyone chips in, I have offered to clean and she empties but this has been refused.

It will be old age Nav, you won't be there yet, still out touring so how could you?

And the kettle of course. Only saw it done once, child, swoosh, sorted. Wasn't these new fangled built in jobbies though, the good old fashioned long drop Portapotty. New ones would probably melt!Surprised

Ewh, just forget it and walk across to the toilet block Sealed

but I think a pre flush would help to 'move' things a little and reduce decoration

Open blade plus strategically placed sheets of paper works for us.

It's quite true that non-soluble items jam sewage pumps and block filter beds so only water soluble paper (toilet paper) should be flushed into any sewage disposal system.

If wet wipes were water soluble they would dissolve in the packet!Laughing

We used to stop a couple of nights with friends, who had a little girl, then they would come and stay with us! Good friends, the sort you don't get embarrassed with, but just got on with things! We shared a love of horses, so cleaning up was a daily thing!Happy

They are flushable, in that they disappear down the toilet, but they then cause havoc in the sewage system further on, and even reappear on beaches. Thames Water has a particular problem.

(Ps, please don't take this as criticism, it wasn't intended that wayHappy)

If a toilet brush really is on the wanted list then sticky backed velcro will pin it to the floor.
